My Transylvania soloing build has literally every single percentage damage boost one can stack. Personally I went Blade/Assault Rifle Frenzy/Afflict early on, then went up Chaos to pick up Breakdown, swapped my actives over to Chaos once I'd got there in order to be more efficient about benefiting from Weaken, then went careering up Fists - initially for Bloodsport, but then for Ferocity, because with that much in Assault Rifle, Fists and Chaos I could transition to a Burst/Weaken build. I mean, Afflict is nice, but it's not 'one passive adds 30% to your damage / subtracts 30% from incoming damage' nice. I basically don't rate any build for soloing unless it applies Weakened (specifically Exposed or Debilitated or ideally both) - Weaken is the game's strongest debuff by a country mile. If you're using Blades or Hammers at all ever it is very, very, very worthwhile (once you've picked up your initial 60AP build) heading up Chaos to pick up the 9AP skill 'Breakdown', which applies Weaken. Your second weapon can be anything at all - everything benefits from penetration buffs. Use sudden return to increase your dps when you penetrate Use immortal spirit to give yourself a self heal when you penetrate Use dark potency and/or iron maiden to buff your penetration (blood passives) Weaken your enemies with breakdown (chaos passive that increases damage received)Ĭonsume blade resources with clearing the path (high penetration chance vs afflicted targets) The basis of a standard blade soloing build is afflictions and penetrating hits.Īfflict with blade torrent & perfect storm (later: any frenzy with shoot em up, or any ability with bloodsport) If you have blue or purple gear, a single HP talisman is helpful.Īll stats are subject to diminishing returns if you concentrate too much on a single stat, however this isn't significant until you're in QL10.x purples.Īs for easy solo builds, I'd agree with the others that blade/X is strong and easy to use. The small amount of HP is enough HP when you're in green gear. With green talismans, the HP talismans include a small amount of attack rating and the attack/heal talismans include a small amount of HP. Talismans come in three varieties for each slot: HP, attack rating, and heal rating The other tip is don't equip (much) HP, and concentrate on offensive glyphs when soloing.

The golden hour – shortly after the sun rises in the morning and late in the day before the sun sets – are two times of the day when reflections can be good. But what time is best? That really depends on what you want to achieve. To achieve the perfect water reflection image – the mirror effect – you’ll want the water to be perfectly still.Ĭonsult the weather forecast and pick a time that you think will work best. You’ll find there’s a whole world of reflections waiting to be photographed.Īnother option is to go outside and shoot during the rain – the puddles’ water reflections can create some amazing effects. So, next time there’s a heavy downpour, go outside after the rain stops, go outside and search out some puddles to photograph. Reflections in puddles have often been used to reflect sky or trees making a direct contrast to urban surroundings. In photography, puddles are often used to heighten the look of the city at night with the puddles or gutter water reflecting neon signs, lamps and headlights. So, why not take inspiration from this famous image! The composition is quite complex with the abstract shapes of the railings behind and the barrel rings in the water – itself clear. The man’s reflection perfectly mirroring his leap at full stretch and caught just before his foot touches the water leaving us with the frisson of what might follow – splash and soaking feet? Cook macaroni as directed on package, omitting salt and reducing the cooking time by 2 min. It's the perfect dinner for those hectic back-to-school nights when you need to get a meal on the table quickly!Įuropean-style goulash is commonly served alongside buttery noodles, dumplings, or just simply with bread and potatoes. In a large pot (at least a 3-quart pot), filled one-half to three-fourths full with water, add ½ tablespoon of sea salt. The best part about this dish is that it all comes together-from prep to finish-in under 30 minutes. Once the pasta is cooked, fold in the cheese, and it's ready to serve. Then you add the beef broth, tomatoes, tomato sauce, Worcestershire, and seasonings to the pot and let it all simmer before you toss in the pasta. Its really simple! Start by cooking the onion and browning the beef. The goulash is finished with a good amount of sharp cheddar cheese, giving it a creaminess and sharp bite. From simple casseroles to hearty pasta suppers and creamy macaroni salads, those tried-and-true elbows are a busy home cooks best friend. It's kind of like the start of a good chili recipe! Once everything is cooked together, macaroni is added and cooked right in the sauce. (Its finished result is reminiscent of a cozy beef stew.) This goulash recipe, however, is American style, using ground beef, onions, garlic, tomatoes, and spices. Commonly, most people think of Hungarian goulash: a stew of pieces of meat braised to ultimate tenderness in a paprika-laced broth with vegetables such as carrots and bell peppers. Goulash is a stew made of meat and vegetables, with different versions originating from central and eastern European countries. What more could you want in a family meal? This mac and cheese is smooth, tasty, and extra cheesy. You’ll love how much creamy richness there is in every nourishing bite. Invented in the early '70s by bodybuilding guru Arthur Jones, it was nicknamed "the upper body squat" as a credit to its relative importance among exercises.īut the new variety of machines also led to a lesser reliance on certain old standards, such as the free weight pullover. One of those machines was the Nautilus pullover. Through organized bodybuilding's early years in the 1950s and '60s, bodybuilders continued to credit the pullover as being essential in sculpting their upper bodies.Ī thick barrel chest was an ideal and the prevailing gym logic said you couldn't get there without lying on a flat bench and bringing a weight to arm's length overhead.īy the 1970s and '80s, bodybuilders had access to more fully equipped gyms with an assortment of specialized machines to better target specific bodyparts. In any case, plenty of lifters reported great results from the "squats, pullovers, and milk" plan. Whether or not that was actually happening, we'll discuss later. The primary benefit was thought to be an expansion of the ribcage, from the deliberate deep breathing between reps that compounded with the deep breathing that took place during the squats earlier in the workout. If you were only going to do one or two upper body exercises (because low volume workouts were "in style" back then), the breathing pullover, as it was known, was considered a must-have. And it worked, because big lifting plus big calories are a solid combo. In the 1920s, a popular training strategy combined heavy, high-rep squats with light, high-rep pullovers as a fast track to building a large body. It's time to bring this forgotten classic back into regular rotation.Īround 1911, Alan Calvert, founder of the Milo Barbell Company and Strength magazine, declared the barbell pullover "the best exercise known for developing a deep chest."Įver hear of the old "squats and milk" routine, where skinny beginners are told to drink a gallon of milk everyday while training with high-rep squats? Well, from day one, the plan was actually "squats and pullovers and milk." Seriously. Nowadays, you're more likely to find a powerlifter on the pec-deck than you are to see a pullover being performed in the gym. Years ago, it was considered one of the most important exercises in bodybuilding. Last, a real old-timer sits up after a set and tells you, "This'll stretch your ribcage and give you the kind of barrel torso Hercules would be proud of."Īnd that's the complicated, confusing, even contradictory world of the pullover. It makes a huge difference in my ab poses." "I've been doing this for years and it really built up my serratus. The fourth lifter is super-ripped and would be a great fitness model. The stretch on the lats and the peak contraction are key." baby!"Ī wide British monster whose shadow covers half the wall chimes in. "Yeah, buddy! Love doing these with light. The second dude, with an even funnier accent, drops a 200-pound dumbbell to the floor after finishing his set. Ze pump you get feels incredible, like being wiz a woman." In a funny, not-quite-German accent, one tells you, "I do zis every chest workout. Imagine you saw a group of guys gathered near the dumbbell rack taking turns doing an exercise you've never seen it before, so you ask what they're doing. Īrchaeologists also use the term patina to refer to a corticated layer that develops over time that is due to a range of complex factors on flint tools and ancient stone monuments. Patina also refers to accumulated changes in surface texture and color that result from normal use of an object such as a coin or a piece of furniture over time. In common parlance, weathering rust on steel is often mistakenly referred to as patina. On metal, patina is a coating of various chemical compounds such as oxides, carbonates, sulfides, or sulfates formed on the surface during exposure to atmospheric elements ( oxygen, rain, acid rain, carbon dioxide, sulfur-bearing compounds). They may also be aesthetically appealing. Patinas can provide a protective covering to materials that would otherwise be damaged by corrosion or weathering. The patinas on leather goods are unique to the type of leather, frequency of use, and exposure. Patina ( / p ə ˈ t iː n ə/ or / ˈ p æ t ɪ n ə/) is a thin layer that variously forms on the surface of copper, brass, bronze and similar metals and metal alloys ( tarnish produced by oxidation or other chemical processes) or certain stones and wooden furniture (sheen produced by age, wear, and polishing), or any similar acquired change of a surface through age and exposure.Īdditionally, the term is used to describe the aging of high-quality leather. The external layer has been weathered by moisture and rain, leading to the oxidation of copper. Pre-colonial copper coin formerly used in the Copper Belt ( Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zambia). The church was destroyed during the bombing of Dresden in 1945 and then rebuilt from 1993 to 2005 with new material the stones with the black patina are the parts that survived the firebombing from the original 18th-century church. Copper roof on the Minneapolis City Hall, coated with patina The Dresden Frauenkirche. For the United States Navy ship, see USS Pattina (SP-675). And Gold can even be found in Organic Compounds such as and that is the so called Greenish Patina on copper coins. For the village in Estonia, see Pattina. And I thought everyone knew about Aqua-Regia and Gold to form 3HCl+1HNO3 or NOCl+Cl2+H OH pending temperatures, quantities and solution strength. Other reactions that are normal are the formation of AuCl3 or AuCl4 where excessive Chlorine is present. This is common in some areas of the country where high Sulfur Coal is burned such as the steel mills in Indiana. Gold reacts with Sulfur fairly readily to form Ag2S and is usually noted as a Br/Bk discoloration on Gold. It probably is possible to create an "artificial patina" on a pure gold coin, but you'd need (a) some pretty noxious chemicals, (b) some high-tech gear, and/or (c) a lot of very expensive trial and error. Gold so impure that a "real patina" readily forms has rarely been used as a coinage metal. 900 fine alloy used for American circulating gold coins, can discolour slightly because the copper in the alloy can form a patina. As a result, pure gold doesn't form a patina. Indeed, it is quite resistant to most kinds of chemical attack. Gold is one of the few metals which is naturally resistant to oxidation at normal atmospheric temperature and pressure. All ancient coins need to be cleaned after they're dug out of the ground, but an ancient coin which has had it's patina completely stripped away to reveal the bare metal underneath is considered to have been overcleaned, and not as desirable as a coin with it's patina intact.Īlso can you get Patina on gold? If so, how do you get it? On ancient coins, patina is inevitable, and depending on the composition of the coin, the patina can be quite thick. On older coins and coins from circulation, patina is considered normal and natural, and it's removal (by "cleaning") is generally frowned upon by coin collectors. On such coins, "patina" would be regarded as a sign of poor storage, environmental damage (such as water or fire) or an attempt at creating artificial toning. On modern proof and uncirculated coins, patina shouldn't have had time to form yet, especially if the coins have been stored properly. That depends on what kind of coin we're talking about. The formation of a patina is the natural consequence when a piece of refined metal (such as a coin) is kept in an oxygenated environment (like the open air) for a prolonged period. Being bright and shiny is not the natural state for most of the metals your coins are made up of. “When the kids are in school and you have a family and business structure that has the normal ebb and flow going, we get really solid, consistent blood donations,” McDaniel said. He encouraged people to make an appointment. McDaniel said the national blood supply dips in the summer and the holidays, so donations are really needed. “The number of units we have collected have been over 100 in one day.”īrian McDaniel, executive director of the Red Cross Illinois River Valley chapter in Romeoville, and Carley Dadisman, Red Cross phlebotomist, chat with Al Whitney of Ohio when he stopped by the office on Tuesday to donate platelets as part of his "Platelets Across America" mission. “It’s one of the largest single-day blood drives in our chapter,” McDaniel said.
